Course Specification

NOCN (National Open College Network) Group have produced this assured Fire Door installation course working collaboratively with the British Woodworking Federation. This fire door safety course aims to promote awareness in the construction industry of the factors involved in the appropriate installation of timber fire doors. The outline, structure and content of this course is assured by the NOCN Group.

Fire Door Installation Course Content & Objectives

  • The role of timber fire door assemblies and door sets and why it is important that timber fire doors are installed correctly
  • Understanding how fire door assemblies and door sets work and their place in the wider passive fire protection system
  • Legislation and guidance associated with fire door assemblies, installation and door sets
  • Considerations before installing fire door assemblies and door sets
  • Considerations on completion of the installation of fire door assemblies and door sets

Course Delivery

This fire door installation course is delivered in a small group over 2 days. The course is theory-based and will be delivered using a blend of learning techniques, focused on a course presentation in the form of a PowerPoint and the use of group interactive tasks and discussion. A supporting fire door installation course book will be issued to each course delegate on their arrival.

Course Assessment

As this fire door course is designed to provide awareness to the delegates, the final assessment is not an examination paper. The assessment is designed to allow the tutor to gauge the level of understanding attained by the delegates on fire door installation.

Each delegate must complete the multiple-choice assessment. The group will go through the questions to ensure that each delegate has understood full coverage of the course. Certification is then completed by the tutor once the delegates have completed the course.
